Kevin Garnett on Jimmy Butler: When you step away from your responsibility, you open the door to non-guaranteed contracts in the NBA
Kevin Garnett on Jimmy Butler situation: From a winning perspective, P is like, "Man, he's really on some 'all soldiers be quiet, enjoy yourselves, and stay focused' mindset." That’s really what it’s about. We’re going to come back, gear up, and handle business—just like every team trying to build culture. But bro, when you step out of being professional and step away from your responsibility—your oath to hold up your end of the bargain—you open the door for all this [ __ ] right here. This is how non-guaranteed contracts are going to come into our league. We [ __ ] fought our asses off through five or six goddamn lockouts to get to a point where we protect the integrity of the talent. And in return, that talent has a responsibility to be professional, come in here, and do their [ __ ] job.

I, personally, will laugh at whatever team ends up with Jimmy Butler. He's nobody's missing piece. That's my take. It's bad. I don't care. Time will vindicate me. - 5:49 PM

Bernie Lee (Jimmy Butler's agent): Man….. now trust me I get the irony here but just to clear this up once and for all this is the flight that keeps being mentioned… -via x.com / February 2, 2025
Amid yet another report of how the situation played out ahead of Jimmy Butler’s current suspension, agent Bernie Lee took to social media Saturday to clear up what had become an exaggerated misconception. In the wake of a podcast when former NBA center Channing Frye said Butler made the Heat wait two hours on the tarmac on Jan. 22 for the team’s flight to Milwaukee, Lee posted a flight alert of the Heat team plane actually departing 15 ahead of schedule that day. -via South Florida Sun-Sentinel / February 2, 2025
League sources say that two prime areas to focus on for potential Toronto involvement, with final decisions obviously looming, are Miami's ultimate plans with Butler and what New Orleans opts to do with Ingram. -via marcstein.substack.com / February 1, 2025
Kevin Garnett: You think I liked Glen Taylor? You think I liked that [ __ ]? No. You think Paul and I always saw eye to eye? At one point, we didn’t. But we came in, did our [ __ ] jobs, got paid, and went home. And as soon as we had the opportunity to change our situation, we did. But bro, I ain’t here to be a distraction to the other guys in this locker room. That’s exactly what you're doing. -via YouTube / February 2, 2025
This would include a continued NSFW response from Garnett about playing against players like Patrick Beverly and others who are hungry to showcase their talents. “It ain’t no referees in there, there ain’t no moms in there, there ain’t no dads,” Garnett said on his show. “You feel me, it’s just you and other players in there that’s hungry and starving. That’s when you get to play against those Pat Bevs and those mother f—-ers that you ain’t never heard of. Who is this guy right here, or you see that old guy in the corner getting J’s up? The next level to me for Wemby is presence. Flashing, calling for it. Give me the mother f—-er! Not giving a s—t slobbering at the mouth, becoming a demon.” -via Clutch Points / January 24, 2025
After the San Antonio Spurs beat the Indiana Pacers in Paris, France, it was a homecoming for superstar Vicror Wembanyama who put on a show. On top of Wembanyama throwing a highlight alley-oop down, he had a fantastic showcase that garnered the attention of former player Kevin Garnett. In the game in Paris, Wembanyama finished with 30 points, shooting 13 of 21 from the field to go along with 11 rebounds, six assists, and five blocks. Garnett would be impressed with the outing on the “KG Certified” show but feels the next step for the 21-year-old is to toughen up which includes spending some time in Los Angeles in the summer. “Instead of going abroad when you come back from vacation, because you know what home looks like right, you were born and raised there,” Garnett said. “You can always go back home. Spend a summer in LA bro, go up to UCLA because you know what’s up there? Everything you’re looking for. Go up to UCLA and play against that caliber of s—t for a whole week and see how you come out of there.” -via Clutch Points / January 24, 2025
