For the majority of his time with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Garnett had an unconventional way of keeping track of his paychecks, which he attributes to a lack of financial literacy. “I was kind of raised with a certain pedigree and mindset so I wasn’t introduced to wires or just fintech. I wasn’t financially savvy. I didn’t know about direct deposit. I didn’t know none of this,” Garnett admitted during an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Garnett opted to cash his earnings and store it under his mattress instead of a bank. “I had a whole little system,” he commented. This habit would continue for nearly a decade.

John Lucas III: One day, KG was like, "Yo, come to my house. We’re going to watch the fight." You know, he’s my teammate, so I was like, "All right, cool." At the time, his wife, Brandy, picked me up and said, "Yo, where’s your stuff?" I was confused. "Huh? I thought I was just going to watch the fight." She said, "No, KG said you’re moving in with us." I remember saying, "What?" I went upstairs and packed my bags real quick. KG’s house was unbelievable. I had the whole guest house to myself. His best friends, Tou and Chi Bip, were there. The guest house was called "The Bip’s Estate" because that’s where his family stayed when they visited. At the time, I didn’t have a car. KG had just bought his wife a brand-new cherry-colored CLS Mercedes-Benz, but she hated the color. He had so much money, he just threw me the keys and said, "Yo, this is your car, young fella." -via YouTube / January 9, 2025

Al Jefferson on being traded: I understood from Boston's point of view. KG at that time, you already had Ray Allen. I was thinking, you know, first KG said he wasn't coming. So, it's going to be me, Paul, and Ray Allen, and all of a sudden, I'll never forget. I'm in Jackson, Mississippi, heading to the airport to fly to Boston. Danny Ainge called me and said, 'Yeah, don't come. The trade is probably about to go down.' I said, 'What trade?' He said, 'Yeah, it's probably going to happen.' I appreciated that he told me, and for drafting me.” -via YouTube / December 21, 2024

Paul Pierce on Lakers: You can trade D-Lo too and get some draft picks and just let them roll. Kevin Garnett: Hell no. Laker Nation ain't going for that. Pierce: AD is still good so do him justice and give him an opportunity to go somewhere and play for a title because it's not happening in LA. -via YouTube / December 14, 2024
