Kevin Nisbet has been tipped for a Scotland rescue act after falling off the international radar.

A tough spell at English Championship side Millwall was not what the striker had in mind after making the move down south from Hibs. But he has become a man revived since joining Aberdeen on a season-long loan. Five goals in his last six games, including an audacious birthday strike against Queen's Park in the Scottish Cup quarter-final, has Tartan Army fans taking notice.

The 28-year-old was on the bench for his country in October, but with Lyndon Dykes ruled out and Lawrence Shankland in poor form, could Steve Clarke take a chance on him for the Nations League play-off matches against Greece? Former Pittodrie captain and manager Willie Miller certainly thinks so.

"The real Kevin Nisbet has turned up," he said. "That is just magnificent. He's on the run, he's beyond the near post and guides it into the top corner. That is a wonderful, wonderful goal."

Fellow BBC pundit Stephen McGinn agreed: "That is Nisbet at his confident best. A natural goalscorer, feeling good about his game, feeling as fit as he ever has done at Aberdeen." He added: "I saw in an interview recently he said he felt very fit. That's a big part of his game. He's a clever player, a natural goalscorer and, when he's feeling good about himself, he's capable of getting back into the Scotland squad."
