Khvicha Kvaratskhelia fires Champions League warning as PSG could face Liverpool
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Paris Saint-Germain is confident about his team's prospects in the Champions League this season, even suggesting they could eliminate Liverpool in the round of 16.
The fates of these two football titans are set to potentially cross with the highly anticipated Champions League knockout stage draw set to take place on Friday, February 21, at 11am UK time (6am ET). The knockout phase depends on the outcome of the league phase to a large extent, with Arne Slot's side securing automatic qualification to the last 16 as a top seed.
Liverpool could face off against either PSG or Benfica; whichever team the Reds do not draw will go up against Barcelona. Despite having to tackle a tough initial play-off phase, which saw the likes of Arsenal, PSV Eindhoven, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City involved, Luis Enrique's PSG got through easily against Brest.

Kvaratskhelia, reflecting on his club's aspirations to triumph in Munich come May, provided an optimistic view to Get French Football News ahead of the draw. "Yeah, of course everything is possible," he said when asked about going all the way. "We just have to concentrate and put everything on the field."
Liverpool might still have a say in the matter, depending on how the draw for the next round pans out. However, Slot will need to bolster a defense that has only managed two clean sheets in their last nine games if he hopes to knock PSG out of Europe.
PSG in good Champions League form before last-16 draw
PSG didn't just defeat Brest over two legs; it obliterated them with a 10-0 aggregate scoreline. Kvaratskhelia, a $75 million (£59m/€71m) summer acquisition from Napoli, netted his first Champions League goal and assist for his new team on Wednesday.
It was during European competition two seasons ago that he made a name for himself with an exceptional performance against Liverpool at the Diego Maradona Stadium while playing for his former Italian club. The Reds held a long term interest but when it was time for the 24-year-old to make a move during the recent January transfer window, Liverpool did not compete with PSG for the high-profile signing, leaving a clear path across Europe.
Liverpool.com says: Kvaratskhelia will be a big threat if the Reds are paired with PSG. Slot would probably prefer a clash with Benfica where Darwin Nunez would get a reunion with his former club. In either case, Liverpool will be right up there among the favorites to go all the way in Europe this season. Real Madrid will have its say, but the Reds should be scared of no one.
