Birmingham City fans have been blown away by Kieran Dowell after a flying start to to life after Rangers.

The much-maligned Ibrox midfielder joined fellow Light Blues loanee Ben Davies and ex Rangers winger Scott Wright at St Andrews. The 27-year-old ex Everton and Norwich City man made his debut at the weekend in a 2-1 win over Rotherham United in League One in England.

Dowell then made his second appearance in the 1-0 Football League Trophy win over Stevenage on Tuesday night and had fans purring. One Blues fan said: “Kieran Dowell* and Marc Leonard were both absolutely excellent. *The Rangers fans on my timeline may want to sit down before reading the rest of the tweet.” Another simply said: “Kieran Dowell. Player.”.

"Feel we will be begging to sign him permanently in the summer if he keeps it up.”

There is a growing contingent of Scots or ex Premiership players at Birmingham City who are managed by Chris Davies, former assistant to Brendan Rodgers at Celtic and Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur.

Scotland stars Lyndon Dykes and Grant Hanley there while the ex Hearts defender Alex Cochrane move to the Midlands side from Tynecastle. The aforementioned Leonard is ex Dundee United while Tomoki Iwata joined from the Hoops and Lukas Jutkiewicz had a spell at Motherwell. That is in addition to the ex Rangers trio.
