Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has played down the notion that the upcoming match against Wolves is a critical "six-pointer" in the context of their Premier League survival.

The Tractor Boys are level on points with their opponents, both teams having secured nine from the opening 15 games, with only Southampton sitting lower in the standings.

Despite Ipswich and Wolves both being on losing streaks, McKenna, looking towards the weekend clash at Molineux, remarked: "It is a really big game but I would never describe anything as a six-pointer, whether we are at the top of the table – as we have been for the past couple of seasons – or at the bottom."

"I am only worried about our own performance and trying to accumulate as many points as we can. What other teams do over the course of the season will take care of itself."

"It is another big match for us, and one we would love to get a positive result in. To do that we have to deliver a good performance and everything that entails in a game like this to give ourselves the best chance."

Reflecting on the heartbreaking loss to Bournemouth, where Town was thwarted by a late turnaround despite Conor Chaplin's opening goal, McKenna admitted his devastation at the manner of the defeat which saw Ipswich miss out on a much-needed home victory.

"We would like to think that match is out of our system now," McKenna remarked. "It hurt but you have to go through that and process it."

He continued, "We have looked back as a group, taken the positives from the game, and things we can do to do better to turn the fine margins of a largely good performance into a victory."

"Now we move on. We are ready for the next game and it is a really good one to look forward to."

In team news, Kalvin Phillips (ankle), who has been on the bench for Ipswich’s last two outings, remains a doubt for the upcoming weekend's clash.
