What to know about the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open, which has a Saturday finish
The PGA Tour stays in Southern California for its fourth event of the 2025 season, but be ready for a different viewing schedule this week.
Torrey Pines in San Diego is once again the host for the Farmers Insurance Open. Both the North and South courses will be used over the first two days, then the action switches to just the South for the final two rounds.
The tournament started as the San Diego Open in 1952 at San Diego Country Club was won by Ted Kroll. It moved to the municipal course in La Jolla in 1968 and was renamed the Andy Williams San Diego Open. Tom Weiskopf won the first tournament there. Tiger Woods has won the event seven times. He had an eighth victory at Torrey Pines when he won the 2008 U.S. Open.
Facts you need to know about the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open
This will be the fourth year that the Farmers will be shifted away from Sunday. It's the only PGA Tour stop with a Saturday final round and the strategy is to avoid the NFL's AFC and NFC Championship games Sunday.
"We are excited about the opportunity that these changes present and fully embrace the uniqueness that comes with being the only tournament on the PGA Tour schedule with a Saturday-evening finish," Marty Gorsich, CEO of the Century Club of San Diego, which runs the Farmers, said in a statement in September of 2021 when the change was made official.
Golf Channel will have live TV coverage of all four rounds, including all of the first two rounds Wednesday and Thursday and early-round coverage on Friday and Saturday. CBS will take over Friday's third round from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET and Saturday's final round from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET.
Farmers Insurance Open uses two golf courses
Torrey Pines has a North and a South course, with the first 36 holes contested on both. After the 36-hole cut, the action will take place on the South, which is ranked No. 42 on Golfweek's Best Courses You Can Play 2024: Top 100 U.S. public-access courses. Also, the South ranks fourth and the North is 11th on the Golfweek's Best public-access courses in California.
Torrey Pines is a municipal facility but getting a tee time can be challenge. If you're not local, be ready to pony up for the greens fee, as it's $246 Monday through Thursday and $306 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There's also a $49 San Diego Golf Reservations Service Fee and a $50 advance booking fee may apply if you're trying to reserve a time from four to 90 days out.
The Farmers won't be called Farmers after 2026
Farmers Insurance, which has been the title sponsor of the San Diego event at Torrey Pines since 2010, will not renew its agreement with the PGA Tour after its current contract expires in 2026.
