All you need to know about January transfer window as Aberdeen set for busy month
With another busy festive period coming to an end, all attention has turned to the January transfer window as 2025 kicks off with more wheeling and dealing.
For Aberdeen, it could be a busy month with Jimmy Thelin looking to make some big decisions over out-of-contract Dons while also bringing in some reinforcements.
The Reds ended 2024 winless in eight games, and will now be hoping any new recruits can arrest their slump in form, with Dundee United hot on their heels in the battle for third.

And it might not be long till the first new arrival steps through the door at Pittodrie, with Aberdeen having reportedly made a move for Latvia captain Kristers Tobers at Grasshoppers.

When does the January transfer window open in Scotland?
The transfer window officially opened at midnight on January 1 2025, with clubs able to register new signings from this time.
When does the January transfer window close in Scotland?
There's a slight change for 2025 that gives SPFL clubs longer to sort their business this winter, with the window remaining open until 11pm on Monday February 3.

When does the January transfer window close in England?
Unlike in previous years the Scottish and English windows will both close at the same time, 11pm on February 3.
Historically there had been small differences, with Scotland's window extended until 11.30pm last winter - but that is no longer the case.
Can clubs sign players after the deadline?
For very last minute deals sides will be able to push transfers back by an hour if they can submit certain pieces of paperwork by the 11pm deadline on February 3.
After that it's only players who were free agents when the window closed will be able to sign for top flight sides.
