Chelsea will be hoping an extremely productive January transfer window can reignite their Premier League title push. The Blues have spent big in the winter window before and that could happen again as Enzo Maresca looks for the perfect response to back-to-back league defeats.

A Boxing Day loss at home to Fulham was followed by a brutal 2-0 defeat away at Ipswich which has left Chelsea 10 points behind leaders Liverpool. Though Maresca has a big squad at his disposal, the drop-off from the starting XI to those on the fringes has become rather noticeable.

As such, strengthening in January is a real possibility if the perfect opportunity arises. Parting ways with some players also seems quite likely and at least five stars could be on the move. With that being said, football.london has taken a look at what a dream window could look like for Chelsea.

Kolo Muani signs

Randal Kolo Muani appears destined to leave Paris Saint-Germain and that could arrive as soon as the January transfer window.

Chelsea are admirers of the France international and though they are not currently expected to make an approach, things can change very quickly. The structure of any potential deal will be key to getting the green light with a loan and obligation-to-buy far less tempting in comparison to a straight temporary switch.

With it clear neither party want to continue, it is entirely possible a loan is agreed with Chelsea paying a portion of his wages and giving him a place to potentially thrive for six months.

David pre-contract agreement

While it would not be an immediate arrival, clubs across Europe will soon be in a position to seal moves that only activate in the summer. For Premier League sides, they can agree pre-contract deals with any player outside England that will become a free agent at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Lille star Jonathan David is one of those and it again could be a chance that is too good to turn down for Chelsea. A similar transfer plan for the signature of Christopher Nkunku was agreed this way and thus it is entirely possible the Blues repeat that with David.

All Chelsea would need to do is agree on a contract length, wage demands and a potential signing bonus. Reports suggest David wants £8.3million (€10m) for the latter and a five-year deal which will see him take in £5million (€6m) annually.

The Canada international has been linked with a move to England for some time and Chelsea could end up being the club he joins.

Five exits

To accommodate new arrivals, exits will almost certainly need to be sanctioned. Several Chelsea stars have already more or less been exiled from Maresca's plans and therefore it is rather simple to work out who could move on.

Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei is the obvious one with a number of clubs in his home country interested in bringing him back. Ben Chilwell is also free to leave but it is unclear exactly where he could go while Carney Chukwuemeka is available for transfer, but only at the value of his £40million release clause.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall meanwhile, despite only joining this past summer, could leave in January with Maresca unsure on his future.

Returns from temporary spells for Gabriel Slonina and Aaron Anselmino open the door for others to go out on loan with Harvey Vale and Alex Matos among those that may go elsewhere. Summer signing Omari Kellyman was also earmarked for a loan but injury may prevent that from occurring.

Those latter three names appear the most likely to play football elsewhere for the remainder of the season with Casadei and one of Chilwell, Chukwuemeka or Dewsbury-Hall the senior stars to seal an exit.
