The French international was on the scoresheet for the Spanish giants in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium last week. He drew Real Madrid level at 1-1 before they came back again from 2-1 down to take a 3-2 lead into the second leg.

The Real Madrid forward capitalised on a mistake by Ruben Dias to get on the end of a long ball and finish a first time lob over Ederson to make the aggregate scoreline 4-2. He looked a danger to City’s backline throughout the first half, and got his third goal of the tie before the half time whistle.

He received the ball in the penalty box before shifting it from his left to his right foot, and leaving City defender Josko Gvardiol on the floor, before finishing past Ederson to make it 2-0 on the night and 5-2 on aggregate.

As Mbappe ran off to celebrate, replays showed a taunt towards the City defender who he left on the floor. During his celebration, he appears to point back towards Gvardiol and signal to the floor highlighting how his piece of skill got the better of the defender.
