Mikel Arteta will be hoping for some good news this week on the Arsenal injury front after two further setbacks following the club's warm weather training camp in Dubai.

Kai Havertz has suffered an injury scare during that trip to the Middle East, according to the Daily Mail. The Germany international is said to have suffered from a hamstring injury, though an exact diagnosis is unconfirmed.

If that is the case, it would leave Arteta without a recognised striker. It's a further injury blow for the Gunners who are already depleted in attack with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli all on the sidelines through injury. Havertz is the club's top scorer with 15 goals and it would leave the Arsenal boss needing to find yet another alternative.

Raheem Sterling, Ethan Nwaneri and Leandro Trossard are in line to fill any void left by the German, with the other two playing out wide. Academy talent Nathan Butler-Oyedeji could also be handed an opportunity, with the 22-year-old the closest to the first-team set-up.

If Havertz is ruled out for a lengthy period, it would only raise more questions about the club's inactivity in the recent January transfer window. The Gunners were linked with a move for Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins, Newcastle's Alexander Isak and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, but they'd fail to sign a striker.

Defender Takehiro Tomiyasu's long-term fitness is also a concern with the club said to be exploring the prospect of a second knee operation, also according to the Daily Mail. The Japanese international has played just six minutes of football so far this season, coming on as a late substitute in the win over Southampton.

The defender was making his return from a three month recovery after a knee injury kept him out of the start of the season. However, he has not featured since then after suffering from a setback and the 26-year-old has already had a number of injury problems since his move to the Emirates.

Speaking last month, Mikel Arteta provided a positive update on the defender's fitness, saying: "Tomi has done some stuff on the pitch, but now because it's been a long-term injury, we need to see how quickly he can progress and how he reacts."

The report claims there's now pessimism regarding his recovery, though Ben White's imminent return should ease any fears of a further long-term setback for Tomiyasu. White could be back in contention for this weekend's clash with Leicester City.
