Arsenal will welcome the return of two players from injury when they face Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

The Gunners will face the Croatian club in their seventh league phase fixture of the Champions League on Wednesday night. Arsenal go into the game on the back of a disappointing draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League at the weekend.

The clash against Zagreb will be Arsenal's first Champions League fixture since December 12, as the league phase of the competition nears its conclusion. With 13 points from their first six matches, the Gunners can almost secure a spot in the last-16 with victory at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Ethan Nwaneri and Riccardo Calafiori will return to the matchday squad for the clash against Zagreb. Nwaneri has been sidelined with a muscle injury he suffered in the draw with Brighton earlier this month, a game that also saw him on the score sheet at the Amex Stadium.

Calafiori has not featured in any of Arsenal's last three matches due to a fitness issue. However, Arteta has confirmed that the Italy international, along with Nwaneri, has returned to training and is in contention to feature against Zagreb.

"Very positive news," Arteta told reporters on Tuesday. "We missed them for a few weeks, and they return today for training, so they will be available for the game."

One player who won't be available to face Zagreb, though, is William Saliba. The centre-back missed the draw with Villa with a hamstring injury, and while Arteta is hopeful of a return for the clash against Manchester City on February 2, a return in tonight's Champions League fixture is not on the cards.

"I think he's [Saliba] evolving well," said Arteta. "The last few days, he was feeling much better already, but this game comes a little bit too early for him."

Arsenal also have Bukayo Saka, Ben White, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu on the sidelines with injury. Saka underwent surgery on a hamstring injury in December and is not expected to return until March.

The England international was spotted not using crutches this week, raising hopes that an early return may be possible. However, Arteta stated that the timeframe for Saka's return remains unchanged, but did say the recovery is going to plan.

"We have done the process, and the time we had, and that phase has gone now, and he is doing really well and he is feeling better day-by-day," said Arteta.

"But we have to respect the healing process and he obviously still has a lot of stages to go through in his rehab."
