THREE more greats from Woolston Rovers’ past have been inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame.

Allan Johnson, Steve Martin and Ian Williams’ contributions to the Green and Golds were recognised and inked into club history at Rovers’ annual Hall of Fame dinner at Warrington Masonic Hall.

Second-rower Johnson was an on-field stalwart during the 1960s and 70s before playing a key role off the field, while Martin had the honour of scoring a try and a conversion during the Challenge Cup tie against illustrious neighbours Warrington Wolves at Wilderspool in 2001.

Williams – a no-nonsense forward known as ‘Wormy’ – was a member of the Rovers side who were inaugural National League members in the 1985-86 season.

All three received a commemorative Hall of Fame shirt, while club heritage numbers were also presented to several players past and present to recognise their service to the club.

The event also acted as a launch night for Rovers’ 2025 season, with first-team coach Liam Lawton and ‘A’ team boss Craig Woolvine taking to the stage to give an insight into pre-season training.

The first team will once again line up in Division One of the National Conference League, with the ‘A’ team taking their place in an expanded North West Men’s League Entry Division.

The club will also run an under 18s side in 2025 – the first time they have done so since 2020.
