Pascal Struijk and Max Wober are major injury concerns for Leeds United as they prepare to go head-to-head with Oxford United. The defensive duo have not trained today and boss Daniel Farke said late decisions will be made on their potential involvement in the Championship fixture.

Struijk (hamstring) and Wober (knee) have been unable to take part in team training in the past two days. Farke said first-team regular Struijk is "struggling with tightness" in his hamstring and Wober faces a race against time to prove his fitness. Full-back Junior Firpo (hamstring) and Ilia Gruev (knee) remain on the sidelines.

Saturday's clash will be United's final fixture before Christmas. Farke's men will be chasing a ninth straight home win to keep the pressure on table-topping Sheffield United. The Whites are the joint-strongest team on their own turf in the second tier of English football along with the Blades, picking up 28 points from 11 outings.

Oxford will travel to Elland Road on the back of a wretched run of form. They have tasted just one win from their past 15 matches. Saturday's 3-1 reversal at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday cost Des Buckingham his job. It is believed the U's are in advanced talks to appoint Gary Rowett. There is a possibility Rowett could be appointed in time to take charge of the clash.

"We have many games over the festive period," said Farke. "It's crucial and we want to pick up as many points as we possibly can.

"We want to finish in style at Elland Road this year but our opponents will be desperate for the points. We want to improve our position."

Club captain Ethan Ampadu is "not far away" from being ready to start matches again. The Wales international has featured twice from off the bench since recovering from injury. "It's a good feeling to have him back," said
