Law and District AC excel as they medal at indoor events
Law and District Amateur Athletics Club won four medals at various competitions as they made a successful start to the indoor track and field season.
Senior Steven Stone won the English indoor ambulant long jump in Sheffield with a leap of 6.33m, his first jump after 18 months’ rehabilitation from a knee injury.
Masters athlete Graeme Ferguson won gold in M45 shot put at the Scottish National Championships at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.
At the Scottish Students Indoor Championships, Jade Gray, representing Edinburgh University, won silver in shot put.
Ross Ferguson, representing Strathclyde University, was fourth in shot put.
Running for University of the West of Scotland, Sophie Evans made the 60m and 200m finals, where she finished third.
Oscar Logan made the 800m final for Glasgow University.
Steven Stone competed in para long jump and Cara Murphy in 60m para at the EAP Indoor International at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on February 1.
Owen Murphy improved his 60m personal best to 7.06 seconds.
Senior Jordon Morrison completed the Up and Running 10km in Glasgow Green in 35.16 minutes.
Several Law and District athletes competed at the National Indoor Open at the Emirates, with several personal bests recorded by Emily Taylor, Jamie Mackie and Lucy Taylor in 1500m, Lauren McNair and Hannah Kulke in 400m, Luke Evans and Stephan Cowan in 200m, Erin McGurk in 300m and Cameron Chambers in 400m/800m.
Also competing were: Calum Hall (200m) and James McClafferty, Tehillah Ikechuckwu Okonkwo, Sophie Evans, Cara Murphy, India Wood and Sol Stewart (all 60/200m).
Five teams of four competed at the Under-12 SUPERteams event at the Emirates, with everyone taking part in 60m, long jump, shot put and 4x200m relay.
There were also impressive performances from under-13 and under-15 athletes at the Indoor 4x200m Relay Championships in Glasgow.
Law’s under-13 girls finished ninth, and the boys just missed out on a place in the finals.
The under-15 girls finished 13th, with the boys narrowly missing out on a podium place.
Finally, Law and District’s senior athlete Emily McNicol competed at the British Universities and Colleges Cross Country Championships in Cardiff.
Representing Glasgow University, McNicol completed the 8.21km course in 33rd of 161 runners.
