Lee Buchanan posts surgery update after season-ending Birmingham City injury
Lee Buchanan has posted an update on his recovery from the serious knee injury he sustained in the League One clash with Blackpool at the end of last year.
The Birmingham City left-back was visibly distressed when he was stetchered off just nine minutes into the 0-0 draw with the Tangerines, and it quickly became apparent he had suffered a significant injury.
In what is his first communication since the injury, Buchanan took to social media to say: “I’d just like to thank everyone for their mind messages over the last week or so, it means a lot.

“I underwent successful surgery yesterday, I’ll do everything I can to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. See you all soon, KRO.”
Speaking soon after the incident, Blues boss Chris Davies said: “I’ve seen a picture of it and it doesn’t look good. He was in a lot of pain. It’s a real shame for someone who has worked so hard to get back to fitness. To have another big setback like that is really disappointing.”
A few days later Davies confirmed that the injury would put the 23-year-old out for the remainder of the campaign – having battled so hard to overcome calf problems at the beginning of the season.
Blues have Alex Cochrane as their first choice left-back but Ethan Laird has also played on that flank despite being primarily a right-sided player.
