Birmingham City's January transfer deadline day signing Lee Myung-jae has revealed that Paik Seung-ho told him to 'come quickly' once he reached out to the Blues midfielder about the prospect of joining the club.

Left-back Lee, Paik's compatriot, has joined on a free transfer until the end of the season. The South Korean international, 31, joined from Ulsan Hyundai, where he'd spent more than 10 years and made over 250 appearances.

Lee won the K League three times on the spin with Ulsan and the Korean FA Cup in 2017, but he now links up with Paik and Blues as they bid to return to the Championship.

Lee, to be expected, spoke to Paik while the deal was being processed and asked his new teammate what he could expect from the life-changing move to England. And Paik could only offer a glowing endorsement of Blues and the experiences he has enjoyed since moving 12 months ago.

“I reached out to Seung-ho first and he told me to come here quickly,” Lee told BluesTV. “He told me what a great team it is, and it made me think more how much I wanted to join. Honestly, having someone from Korea here will make a big difference compared to not having anyone. I don’t think there will be any issues with adapting, and I will try to settle in as quickly as possible.

"I feel really honoured to join such a great team, and I'm also really excited. When I first heard, I was looking forward to joining and I'm really happy to be here now. I truly believe that England is a dream for any player, and now that I've come here, I feel really honoured. When I got the offer from such a great team, honestly, I didn’t hesitate at all. I really see this as a new challenge for me.”
