Leeds United boss Daniel Farke expects another tough test against a “really good” Rovers side at Elland Road.

John Eustace’s men came out on top when the sides met in East Lancashire a few weeks ago, with Todd Cantwell getting the decisive goal from the penalty spot.

Farke insists that Rovers are capable of being in the play-off places, or even higher, come the end of the campaign.

“It's just another game, but also against one of the best sides in this league”, he told the club channels.

“Blackburn are in a top position although they, of course, had a disappointing result (against Hull).

"But it's a really good side, for me, definitely a contender for the top six and also for the top two. They are ambitious and have a really good squad and a really good manager.

“It's always difficult to play against them and also our experiences, not just in this season, also last season, is that they are well-structured against the ball.

“It’s not easy to open them and for that we have to be, again, at our best in order to find good solutions.

"There are also better solutions than we found in the first game in order to create chances and to cause problems for them.”

Eustace has won his last three matches against Farke’s Leeds 1-0, with Sam Szmodics getting the decisive goal at Elland Road last term to secure a crucial three points in the relegation battle.

Leeds are top of the table entering the New Year, but Farke refuses to look past Rovers and is focused on finding a way to break down their stubborn defence.

“I want to win each and every game,” he told Yorkshire Evening Post. “I'm a bit disappointed if we don't win every game.

“But I'm not carried away thinking of what will happen in a few months, I have so much work to do to focus on the everyday work.

“(At the start of the season) I was not thinking about winning the league, I was thinking how can we be successful this season losing so many key players.

"My only focus is how the hell can we score a goal against John because we have not managed to score against him in recent games."
