Leeds United among Championship clubs chasing Chelsea star as real target truth known
Leeds United are keen on signing Chelsea outcast Marc Guiu before the end of the January transfer window, it has been claimed. The 19-year-old has struggled for game time since joining the Blues for £5million from Barcelona last summer.
In fact, Guiu has played just 32 minutes of Premier League football this season. He has been more prominent in the Conference League, however, scoring six times in eight matches in that competition. The Spaniard last started for the Blues during a 5-0 win over Morecambe in the FA Cup last month.
With Guiu out-of-favour under Enzo Maresca, he could leave Chelsea on loan in the next 36 hours. Now, The Sun report that Leeds have entered the race to sign the talented Spaniard. The Whites have shown an interest in Guiu, who has also been linked with a move to Middlesbrough and West Brom.

It's our understanding Leeds are focussed on a deal to sign Cameron Archer from Southampton and not Guiu. However, having hit a wall in that pursuit, Guiu could potentially be a back-up.
Also, with Will Lankshear signing for Albion on loan from Tottenham, it decreases their chances of capturing Guiu's services. Boro, who are expected to lose Emmanuel Latte Lath to Atlanta United, want Guiu, while Leeds are looking to give their forward line one final boost in their quest for promotion.
Archer has been another tipped to make the switch to Elland Road but Southampton remain insistent that he is not for sale during the winter transfer window. Archer was not in the Saints squad for the trip to Ipswich Town on Saturday and that has since increased rumours over his future on the south coast.
As for Leeds, they made it 13 matches unbeaten with a thumping 7-0 win over Cardiff City on Saturday. Joel Piroe scored a brace, while Brenden Aaronson, Manor Solomon, Daniel James, Wilfried Gnonto and Mateo Joseph all found the back of the net for Daniel Farke's side against their Welsh opponents.
Despite winning by such a scoreline, Farke was asked about his side's transfer plans for the remainder of the January window in his post-match press conference: "We spoken openly about how we trust this group. If we find something we will go for it. Not over the moon after this. Our general picture won't change."
Quizzed about Leeds' striker debate with several players, including Guiu and Archer linked, Farke added: "As a striker I would like to play in this team that creates so many chances.
"Overall if after 30 games you have so many points you are capable of being in good position after 46 games. We don't under estimate these games or if we have injuries or yellow cards and not available for selection.
"We need and have a good group. They deserve the praise. We will analyse this game tomorrow and speak a little bit about Coventry. Sadly I have to stay disciplined and stick with some cheesecake and coffee!"
