It could very well be glory glory Leeds United come the end of the season as Daniel Farke's men take the Championship by storm - and they could book their Premier League return in record-breaking fashion.

Last season's Wembley heartbreak against Southampton still lives long in the memories of the Elland Road faithful. All despite accruing an outstanding 90 points over the course of the season which somehow wasn't enough.

Fast-forward nearly 12 months and Leeds are on course for not just improving on last season's tally but potentially smashing the league record. A feat that has stood uncontested for almost two decades.

The Whites are showing no signs of slowing down either. So far in February, they have scored 13 goals without conceding in their last three league outings, including a 4-0 battering of Watford and hitting Cardiff City for seven.

It's high-flying form that sees them sitting pretty right at the top of the table on 69 points. Five ahead of Sheffield United and eight in-front of Burnley.

But what is the long-standing Championship points record, and how do Leeds United compare to the division's most successful teams in history? LeedsLive has everything you need to know.

What is the Championship points record?

Reading hold the record for the highest points total in Championship history. Steve Coppell's side accumulated 106 points over the course of the 2005/06 season.

They won 31 games, drew 12 times and lost only twice. Scoring 99 goals and conceding just 32.

How do Leeds United compare to Reading's season?
