Title hopefuls Leeds United will have to rejig their defence against Middlesbrough tomorrow night. Boss Daniel Farke has confirmed Junior Firpo will definitely miss the clash through injury.

Firpo went off in the first half of Saturday's 2-0 win over Derby County after sustaining a hamstring problem. "It's a serious muscle injury," Farke told the media. "We are expecting him to be out for four to six weeks. It's bad news for him.

"He should be back available at some point in January. It's a heart-breaking injury for us because Junior is an integral part of the squad."

The left-back spot could go to Sam Byram. The experienced defender has resumed full training after recovering from a hamstring problem. Farke said: "He was back in team training yesterday and will be available for this game if he comes through tomorrow."

Byram will be vying with Max Wober to replace Firpo at full-back. Wober put in an assured performance after coming on for Firpo over the weekend, bagging his first goal in Whites colours to help them get their promotion campaign back on track."

Farke said United will make a late decision on Jayden Bogle (hamstring). The scond-placed Whites will go top with three points and could apply some pressure to Sheffield United, who visit Millwall on Wednesday night. But anyone thinking the Whites will have it all their own way against Boro should think again. Not only are Middlesbrough are in good form themselves, but they are a slick, possession-based team. They have an array of attacking talent at their disposal, including Liverpool starlet Ben Doak, Tommy Conway, Riley McGree Delano Burgzorg and Emmanuel Latte Lath.

Boro also have good memories of their last visit to Elland Road, cruising to a 3-0 success in their Carabao Cup first round tie back in August.
