It was a busy summer for Leeds United after losing to Southampton in the Championship play-off final, with 14 players departing Elland Road permanently.

A few players stayed in the Championship, some stepped up to the Premier League while others left England and joined clubs abroad. The Whites procured over £100million when you combine the transfer fees obtained through last summer's departures.

Certain players have adapted well and impressed at their new clubs. Others are already looking at a move away and could find a new club as early as this month with the January transfer window now open.

LeedsLive takes a look at how some of those who left Elland Road have fared since leaving...

Archie Gray

Tottenham Hotspur announced the signing of Archie Gray in July in a deal worth around £40 million. Initially, it looked like the 18-year-old would play a bit-part role at the club having struggled to nail down a spot in midfield.

He had played 41 minutes of league football by the start of December. However, injuries to the back-line has seen the youngster start to get regular minutes - including playing the full 90 minutes in the last four Premier League games.

Gray has had played all across the defence and has filled in at centre-back recently after Spurs' injury crisis and boss Ange Postecoglou has heaped praised on the former Leeds man.

“He hasn’t missed a beat, and it’s brilliant to watch,” Postecoglou told Football.London. “The rest of the lads have obviously helped him.

"Radu is the experienced one next to him at 22, and Destiny, 22, either side of him. That’s where we’re at in terms of the squad and all the young boys dipping in, I think’s super exciting through a tough period for the squad where we are at from the squad perspective."

Georginio Rutter

Towards the end of the summer window, Georginio Rutter joined Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion after his £40 million release clause was triggered. It's fair to say he's impressed since moving to the south coast.

Rutter scored in successive games against Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur before getting back-to-back assists against Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Head coach Fabian Hürzeler has commended his character as he continues to integrate into the team.

He said: “This character helps him to integrate quick in a new environment, in a new team and that also helps him to get connected as quickly as possible with his team-mates.

“He smiles a lot but he’s a hard worker and he wants to improve and I thinks that’s also the thing of social media. Of course, we only see the one positive side of things."

Crysencio Summerville

The Championship Player of the Year had a lot of Premier League interest throughout the summer. In August, Crysencio Summerville joined West Ham United for £25 million plus add-ons.

He played regularly whilst at the London Stadium, but has struggled to nail down a starting spot. The Dutch youth international has scored just once, in their 2-1 win against Manchester United, in his 20 appearances.

The 23-year-old may be given an opportunity to break into the starting line-up after it was announced the Jarod Bowen will miss the next few weeks because of a broken foot. Former Ajax and Borussia Dortmund winger Cedric van der Gun thinks Summerville's physicality may play a part in why he hasn't quite hit the heights expected of him yet.

"The only thing I think of Summerville is that I have the idea that he is also struggling physically," van der Gun said. "In the Premier League, a lot is really asked of you physically. So maybe he will slowly grow into that role."

Glen Kamara

Former Whites midfielder Glen Kamara has already been linked with a return to England this January. He joined Ligue 1 side Rennes in the summer for a deal in excess of £8m.

The midfielder has made 13 appearances for the club, including eight starts. Ipswich Town of the Premier League as well Sunderland and Middlesbrough of the Championship have been named as potential destinations for Kamara, according to TBR Football.

Leeds could end up coming up against their former player before the end of the season if he were to seal a move to the Championship this month.
