Leeds United will host Millwall in the FA Cup for the first time next month after the Championship club defeated non-league Dagenham and Redbridge to seal a fourth-round trip to Elland Road.

United are unbeaten at home against Millwall in three fixtures, albeit they were defeated 1-0 at The Den back in November’s league meeting. Across all competitions, both teams have each won 19 of the 43 fixtures played between them, with the other five drawn.

The Whites progressed through to the fourth round via a narrow 1-0 victory over League Two outfit Harrogate Town on Saturday. Largie Ramazani headed home his fourth goal of the campaign on 59 minutes following Manor Solomon’s accurate cross, which marked his fifth assist of the season.

United faced Championship opposition in the FA Cup fourth round last year, having met Plymouth Argyle. After a 1-1 draw at Elland Road, Leeds managed to come out 4-1 victors in the replay but only after extra time. From this season, replays have been scrapped from the first round onwards.

Last year's FA Cup campaign would end in the fifth round against Chelsea, Leeds losing 3-2 thanks to a 90th-minute strike from Conor Gallagher.

As for this time around, United boss Daniel Farke is confident that his squad will be able to sustain a long cup run without it detracting away from the hunt for promotion to the Premier League.

“We are top of the league, the only team on a two-point average (per game) and we’re through to the next round. It looks good,” he said following full-time against Harrogate.

“But we have to prove this each and every day. We know we have a squad together which is capable of winning games and being successful.”

On the tightness of Saturday’s match itself, Farke summarised: “That’s the main thing in a cup competition, to progress into the next round. It’s never easy because obviously for them it’s the game of the season, for some of them perhaps even the game of their lives.

“A packed Elland Road and they’re excited, and for us it was important to use this game to rest and rotate a few players, to give minutes away and bring players back in after injury.”

Ilia Gurev, who had been out since October 1 due to a meniscus injury in his right knee, and Junior Firpo - who had missed the last seven games with a foot problem - both made their returns in the second half of Saturday’s cup win.
