Leeds United fixture change confirmed as Daniel Farke nightmare Championship scenario emerges
Leeds United are through to the FA Cup fourth round after beating Harrogate Town 1-0 in a clash that bordered on being too close for comfort at times at Elland Road on Saturday. While the result is a reason to celebrate for Daniel Farke, it carries with it some unwanted consequences.
Although failing to progress past their struggling League Two opponents would have been a disaster for Leeds, the impact of having at least one more fixture to account for could impact the Championship promotion race. For now, all Farke and his men know is that the fourth round will be played on the weekend of February 8.
That is in just under one month's time and focus will quickly turn back to strengthening the spot at the top of the table when league action returns next Sunday. United welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Elland Road in the third home match in a row.

Due to scheduling, Leeds know that they could be back down to third by the time they kick off. In a race to get back up, playing catch up to their rivals is never ideal.
Things could be complicated even more moving forward, too. As Leeds look towards the fourth round, they know that it will mean rescheduling the Championship game away to Coventry City, which was due to be played on February 8..
It is impossible to have the full promotion picture at the time of that weekend but with Sheffield United out of the cup, the chance of being behind in the table on a more permanent basis has emerged. Leeds would have a game in hand over their Yorkshire rivals but would once more have the pressure of keeping up if Chris Wilder's side took advantage.
Burnley will also see their match that weekend, at home to Oxford United, put to a different date. It promises to mess with the psychology of a true title and promotion push.
The good news is obviously that Leeds are extending their cup run. There is always a debate over just what should take priority with so much at stake, though, and this raises that question once more.
It is not yet clear when the Coventry match will be rescheduled to, or what the promotion picture will look like when it is played.
