Leeds United future transfer plans dealt blow by Ipswich Town move
Daniel Farke could be denied a reunion with former Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey, with Ipswich Town now emerging as the favourites to land the Atalanta star.
Leeds United have been strongly linked with a loan move for the former Everton man, who looks set to leave Serie A this month after failing to cement a first-team place. Farke's history with Godfrey - the pair won promotion to the Premier League with Norwich in 2019 - was thought to be a key factor in any deal, but it appears the lure of the Premier League could be the deciding issue.
Godfrey left Norwich for Everton, enjoying five years at Goodison Park before making the switch to Italy with Atalanta in June for around £11m. However, his time in Serie A has not gone to plan for the 26-year-old, with only five appearances in all competitions to date - one of those in the league.

However, a summer move for Godfrey was always more likely, should Leeds win promotion back to the Premier League. To that end, Ipswich are ready to offer that to Godfrey now, with a loan move ahead of a permanent summer deal likely.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted: "Ben Godfrey completed his Ipswich medical earlier today, ahead of a loan move from Atalanta All parties are hopeful that a deal can be finalised in the next 24-48 hours."
Leeds have also been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest defender Andrew Omobamidele, with the Irishman out of favour at the City Ground.
