Leeds United handed potential transfer boost in pursuit of Southampton striker Cameron Archer
Bringing in a new striker is thought to be at the top of Leeds United's agenda before the transfer window closes at 11pm tonight.
Leeds Live understands the Whites saw an approach to sign Southampton forward Cameron Archer on loan rejected last week. The 23-year-old is attracting interest from a number of clubs, including United's promotion rivals Sunderland.
Archer, who joined Southampton in the summer in a £15million move from Aston Villa, has made 25 appearances for the Saints across all competitions this season, scoring five times. The former England Under-21 international is said to be open to leaving St Mary's, having struggled for regular game time under boss Ivan Juric. It is believed a groin injury kept Archer out of Saturday's 2-1 win at Ipswich Town.

Premier League strugglers Southampton are on the brink of signing a new attacker. The Saints have agreed a fee with Belgium club Royal Antwerp for the signing of Victor Udoh. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano first reported the deal as at an advanced state and Southampton are hoping to agree personal terms with the 20-year-old as swiftly as possible.
Nigerian forward Udoh has played 28 times for the Belgian Pro League outfit but has yet to find the net. He has only featured for Antwerp's Under-23s in the third division since December. Reports in the south coast say Udoh is viewed initially as an academy signing.
Despite thrashing Cardiff City 7-0 at Elland Road on Saturday to stay top of the Championship, the Whites remain in the market for a new striker.
