Late Leeds United injury call, new Gnonto task and Firpo line-up decision vs Norwich City
Leeds United have the chance to go 10 Championship games unbeaten with a result against Norwich City tonight.
United’s last defeat came back in November and should they avoid a loss in their next two fixtures, the team will stretch their immense run into February. Daniel Farke is yet to be defeated in five matches against former club Norwich, conceding just three goals. Of course, their last meeting at Elland Road was that 4-0 play-off semi-final thrashing.
The Canaries will be without talisman Borja Sainz for the trip to West Yorkshire with the attacker currently serving a six-match suspension for admitting to spitting at an opponent last month. United will fancy their chances on Wednesday, although could have several omissions of their own.

Double injury concern
Manor Solomon seems unlikely to feature against Norwich having sustained a hamstring issue from Sunday’s win over Sheffield Wednesday. He was sent for a scan on Monday and Farke said it was “doubtful” he would take part.
His absence would be a blow for United, given he has provided three goal contributions - two assists and a goal - in his last three outings. There is also a late call to be made on Brenden Aaronson, who picked up a knock to his ankle at the weekend.
Farke says he is “carefully optimistic” that his issue is nothing sinister but it might be that he is not played from the start with one eye on Monday’s trip to Burnley. That leads onto the next talking point…
Who starts in attacking midfield?
It’s expected that Largie Ramazani will be fielded on the left in place of Solomon given his two goals in as many games. If Aaronson does miss the line-up then it could be that Wilfried Gnonto plays as the central attacking midfielder.
He was one name mentioned by Farke when recently asked about his options in the role behind Aaronson. Solomon was fielded at No 10 when Aaronson was rested against Harrogate Town in the FA Cup and he may have started there again had he not picked up injury.
Gnonto has not started a match in that role yet this campaign but is often seen drifting inside from the flank. Another option is to bring Joel Piroe back deeper to play as a secondary striker behind Mateo Joseph, with Farke naming Piroe among his selection choices in the no.10 position.
Left-back call
Farke has hinted that there might be some rotation against Norwich. The absence of 16-goal Sainz, who has scored 12 more than any other teammate, makes the visitors far weaker in attack.
Sam Byram has been steady at left-back, on the opposite flank to his natural position. However, this could be the chance to hand Junior Firpo his first start since returning from injury - the manager has said he is “not too far away” from being able to start.
Whether that day comes on Wednesday remains unclear for now, but Farke says he is pleased with how well he is doing in training. Firpo is out of contract this summer and talks over a renewal have not yet taken place so the defender will be keen to get some more minutes back under his belt.
Gruev usage
Ilia Gruev has played a little over 20 minutes across two substitute appearances in the last two matches, having made a remarkable recovery from knee surgery in October. Farke says he too is not far off being able to start.
United are blessed with many midfield options so there is no need to rush him back. Gruev was handed 20 minutes on Sunday and was still diligent while clearly not being at 100 per cent fitness just yet.
The only way he will reach that is by getting more match time. If not for his injury, Farke might have been tempted to rotate and start Gruev against Norwich. It would be a touch surprising to see him in the line-up given the context, though it seems possible he will get onto the pitch at some point.
