Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier is facing more critisicm. The Frenchman has been blasted for his roles in all three of Hull City’s goals in Saturday’s 3-3 draw.

The Whites found themselves 1-0 down at half time, but the game was turned on its head going into the second-half. Goals from Ao Tanaka, Daniel James and Joel Piroe set Leeds up for a comeback victory at the MKM Stadiun.

However, two late goals from Hull means that Daniel Farke’s men had to settle for a point from the game. The manner of the goals left fans frustrated, with the finger again pointed at Meslier.

It has led to talk that a change could be made in goal for the remainder of the season. But it’s not something that Farke would confirm at the end of the game.

"When the goalkeeper makes one or two mistakes it is natural to talk about changes," he said . "We don't change a goalkeeper quickly like a full-back. There is no rule that a player is not dropped. If a centre-back was to score loads of own goals he would be dropped. But straight after the game I am not going to finger point."

The talk over Meslier comes after the goalkeeper was linked with a move to Manchester United. Ruben Amorim is said to be looking for a second choice behind Andre Onana in the United goal with Meslier a name mentioned.

United are likely to need to sell before they can buy. But if they manage to raise funds, then the fee that Leeds may be able to demand might be lower than back in the summer.

According to Transfermarkt, Meslier’s value has dropped from €18 million (£14.94m) at the start of the summer to a current value of €16 million (£13.28m). Both of those figures are significantly lower than his peak value of €22 million (£18.26m) in November 2022.

The 24-year-old is still relatively young for a goalkeeper, meaning that he still has time for his value to rise again. He does however have just 18 months remaining on his current contract at Elland Road, which will impact how much Leeds can demand for him if they do receive interest.
