Leeds United 'plot' transfer swoop for German international after Patrick Bamford injury setback
Leeds United are reportedly eyeing up a transfer move for Hoffenheim forward Mergim Berisha. The Daily Mail claim the Whites have "shown interest" in signing the 26-year-old.
The Germany international has struggled in front of goal this term, finding the back of the net once in 17 Bundesliga appearances. Berhisha, whose previous clubs include Red Bull Salzburg, Fenerbache and FC Augsburg, moved to Hoffenheim for a reported fee of €14 million in the summer of 2023. He has been capped twice at senior level by his country.
United chief Daniel Farke currently has a plethora of attacking options at his disposal in Joel Piroe, Mateo Joseph, Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt. Piroe has been their standout performer, hitting 10 goals in 27 outings.

Bamford sat-out Saturday's entertaining draw at Hull City because of a hamstring injury. It remains to be seen when Bamford will return to action. The experienced forward has struggled to make an impact during the 2024/25 campaign. Bamford has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Elland Road, with League One promotion hopefuls Wrexham said to be interested in acquiring his services before the market shuts on February 3.
There is also uncertainty surrounding Gelhardt's long term future. The 22-year-old replaced Bamford in the matchday squad at the MKM Stadium but was an unused substitute as the Whites squandered two precious points in the race for promotion. Since starting the Carabao Cup tie with Middlesbrough back in August, Gelhardt has made just two first team appearances.
