The January transfer window is now open and Leeds United could be set to do some business. Daniel Farke's side were held to a 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road on New Year's Day but remain top of the Championship table, three points clear of second-place Burnley and Sheffield United in third.

Pascal Struijk gave Leeds the lead from the penalty spot before Danny Batth levelled for Rovers in the 90th minute. With Blackburn seventh in the second tier, a point is not a terrible result for Leeds, who are now unbeaten in their last seven league fixtures dating back to the 1-0 reverse at Ewood Park in November.

Leeds are in pole position to make a return to the Premier League, but there is some talk that Farke's men might dip into the transfer market to give the squad an extra boost. The Whites signed eight players last summer, though their net spend came in at -£116m after losing the likes of Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville.

With this in mind, here is a look at the latest transfer rumours involving Leeds...

Elvedi targeted

Leeds are leading the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Nico Elvedi, according to TEAMTalk.

Daniel Farke is thought to be pleased with his squad, but if there is one area they might look to strengthen, it's the defensive area. And Elvedi, 28, has emerged as a target for the Whites.

It's understood that Leeds have the upper hand in a potential deal for the Switzerland international, who has been at Monchengladbach for the last decade. He signed for the Bundesliga club as an 18-year-old in 2015 and has cemented himself as a club legend, having clocked over 300 appearances.

Elvedi, who worked with Farke during their time together at Monchengladbach, can play as either a centre back or a right back and could be available for as little as £10million. It's unclear, at this moment in time, whether Elvedi would be temped to make the drop down to the Championship, however, and a summer move looks most likely.

Godfrey to leave

Leeds transfer target Ben Godfrey 'can leave' Atalanta in January, according to Fabrizio Romano. The one-time England international is set to be moved on after six months, having arrived for £10million from Everton in the summer. He has made just one Serie A appearance this season.

Godfrey is said to be no longer 'key' for their project and transfer talks are expected to take place. Leeds have been linked with a move for the York-born centre-back in the past, while Tottenham and Wolves are among the Premier League sides that are tracking his progress ahead of a possible transfer.

Jack Harrison twist

Everton are considering terminating Harrison's loan deal, according to The Athletic. Harrison has been a regular starter for the Toffees but has struggled to find his best form. The 28-year-old has started 11 times in the Premier League and featured six times from off the bench but has yet to contribute a goal or an assist this season.

Everton, who are in the thick of the relegation battle, are reportedly interested in signing Jaden Philogene from Aston Villa on a temporary basis but a potential move for the winger could hinge on cancelling another loan deal. Ipswich Town are also keen on adding Philogene to their ranks.
