Daniel Farke might do something against Watford he has not been able to for some weeks - start his strongest Leeds United XI.

The decision to leave out Daniel James and Joe Rodon against Millwall was entirely precautionary and both are set to feature on Tuesday. Max Wober will require surgery amid his ongoing knee problems and be out for another six weeks, though he was always unlikely to play against Watford.

The same applies for Patrick Bamford, who has still not returned from his hamstring injury. But there is better news elsewhere.

Pascal Struijk completed a full 90 minutes against Millwall - the first time he has done so since returning from a hamstring injury - and came through fine. It seems inevitable that he starts the match alongside Rodon at centre-half in front of goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

That would allow Ethan Ampadu to push up into midfield, where Farke likes the captain to play most. With Joe Rothwell the player dropped for Ilia Gruev twice in the past month, supporters may expect to see Ao Tanaka partner the skipper in midfield.

Farke’s praise for Jayden Bogle as the best right-back in the division means he is likely to start, especially after his goal and clean sheet against Coventry City last Wednesday.

Junior Firpo was initially rested on the bench on Saturday before he came on in the second half. It seems as though he has taken over as the primary left-back choice again.

In front of both full-backs will be wingers James and Manor Solomon, the latter of whom was the liveliest winger against Millwall, despite only coming on midway through the second half. Brenden Aaronson was given a much-needed rest for the whole of the match but will come back in at Vicarage Road.

Joel Piroe was managing a slight issue at the weekend but was fit enough to play the final 10 minutes. He will look to score in three consecutive starts for the first time this season against Watford.

This team would signal a total of nine changes to the one that started on Saturday, with only Ampadu and Struijk retaining their places.

Predicted Leeds United XI (4-2-3-1): Meslier; Bogle, Struijk, Rodon, Firpo; Ampadu, Tanaka; James, Aaronson, Solomon; Piroe.
