Leeds United and Sheffield United-linked forward set for Championship move after transfer twist
Leeds United-linked forward Louie Barry is on the brink of joining Hull City. Our sister title Hull Live says the Tigers have agreed a deal to sign the Aston Villa youngster on loan for the remainder of the season.
It is believed City have been in talks with Villa since the back end of last year trying to lure Barry to the MKM Stadium. The 21-year-old is expected to undergo a medical at the Tigers later this week.
Barry, who can play as an out-and-out striker or on the left flank, spent the first half of the season on loan at Stockport County, scoring 15 times in 23 League One games plus one in the EFL Trophy. A raft of Championship clubs, including Leeds, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Derby County have been linked with a move for the player in recent weeks. Scottish giants Celtic are also understood to have expressed an interest in the player.

Villa boss Unai Emery is keen for Barry to be playing regular Championship football following his successful spell at Stockport. “We are very happy with Barry, but we have one plan with him, and that is to extend his contract and continue his process as a player and to go on on loan, get experience and confidence," Emery said. "How we are working with him now and last year is the right way for him.”
The Tigers, who also signed Joe Gelhardt from the Whites earlier this month, climbed out of the Championship relegation zone after a comprehensive win over Sheffield United last week. They are currently in 19th position.
