Leeds United suffer Premier League promotion blow after Burnley clash
Leeds United have suffered a blow in their hopes of gaining promotion to the Premier League after Burnley picked up a vital three points against Oxford United.
After three goalless draws in four matches, the Clarets were in desperate need of a victory to keep in touch with the top two of Leeds and Sheffield United. Unsurprisingly, Burnley started the match on the front foot but were frustrating their home supporters by failing to capitalise on their chances.
However, just after the half hour mark, Scott Parker's side hit the front. A tempting delivery by Josh Cullen was inadvertently turned into his own net by defender Michal Helik to open the scoring.

The second half followed a familiar pattern for Burnley as they pushed to create a cushion but could not do so. On this occasion, it would not come back to bite them and the three points were secured.
Parker's men were in action on Tuesday night due to their participation in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday when they make the long trip down to Southampton. The Whites are also in cup action this weekend against Millwall but shall first return to Championship action on Wednesday evening when they visit Coventry City.
Speaking about the pressure of getting promoted this season, Daniel Farke told reporters in his pre-match press conference: "This is the expectation. What I want is to make sure it belongs.
"I haven't signed a contract to stay in this league in the next four years. Just because we have the best fans in the country and tradition... together in the last 20 years we were not able to celebrate promotion in front of supporters.
"We came pretty close last season but right now we have a great chance. If we keep going in this way we have a good chance."
