Leeds United team news vs Derby County as Daniel Farke makes controversial choice
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has made four changes from the side that beat Stoke City last time out.
The big news is that Joel Piroe, who scored twice in the victory over Stoke has been dropped with Mateo Joseph preferred up front. It is a totally changed front line with Dan James and Manor Solomon both dropped in favour of Largie Ramazani and Wilfried Gnonto.
The trio all make the bench. Farke has chosen to stick with the same back line that kept a clean sheet in the Potteries but has chosen to make a swap in midfield as Joe Rothwell drops out and Ao Tanaka comes in to partner Ethan Ampadu in the double pivot.
United head into this game full of confidence after beating Stoke on Boxing Day to move top of the Championship. However, they have been uprooted at the summit, potentially only temporarily, by Sheffield United who drew 1-1 against West Bromwich Albion in the early kick off.
Farke will be confident of grabbing a positive result this evening having beaten today's opposition comfortably earlier this month. Joe Rodon and Max Wober both scored moments before the interval to secure the three points.

Recent results against the hosts could prove to be a good omen for Leeds. The Whites have not tasted defeat to Derby since October 2017 and have only dropped points twice against them in their last six meetings.
However, the omens look less positive when it comes to last matches in the calendar year. The won just two of these games in the last 14 years, their most recent victory on the final match of the season came in 2020 when West Brom were thrashed 5-0.
