Leeds United told the one transfer that will make them unstoppable in promotion race
Former Leeds United defender Michael Gray believes the difference between Leeds United returning to the Premier League or missing out on promotion once again could lie in the signing of a goalkeeper this month. Leeds appear to have zero plans to sign a new number one in January, with the club not expected to do much business at all and any business that is done surely being used to reinforce the defence or up front.
While that may be the case, following the debate over Illan Meslier's performance in goal after his horror show against Hull City in Leeds' last Championship game, Gray says the signing of a new goalkeeper is essential to make the Whites into a team that will be almost unstoppable.
Asked what transfer is needed this month, Gray told Betfred; “A goalkeeper. 100%. Illan Meslier made mistakes in the Premier League and I think he’s making those mistakes again.

"I think if Leeds want to stay where they are, then I’d say they have to go out and sign an experienced goalkeeper. If they get one of them, they’ll take some stopping Leeds.”
Meslier was rested as planned for the FA Cup third-round game against Harrogate Town, but is expected to be back in goal today when the Whites host Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road for a derby game in front of the television cameras. The Frenchman is still firmly backed by his manager Daniel Farke, who has no intention of signing a replacement goalkeeper this month.
