'Leeds United are a top side' - Scott Parker sets record straight on Burnley plan after drab draw
Head coach Scott Parker said he was happy to settle for a point in Burnley’s top-of-the-table clash against Leeds United. The two promotion contenders played out a dull goalless draw at Turf Moor last night.
There was only one shot on target in the entire match and that came in the closing stages when James Trafford tipped Daniel James' shot over the top. While the draw extended the Clarets' unbeaten run to 16 matches, the Whites made it 11 without defeat in the Championship as they edged two points clear of second-placed Sheffield United, with Burnley a further point back.
Parker said: "I think it was always going to pan out this way, wasn't it? There’s no denying that we're playing against a very, very good side tonight. I think Leeds are a top side.

“If it was a boxing match, it was a match-up between a side who play with a real attacking threat that have scored goals at will this season. And then there’s a side on the reverse in us who have been nothing short of remarkable defensively.
“I suppose it always smelt a little of 0-0 and that’s exactly how it proved. I'm happy with that point. We came here with full intention to win it. We wanted to try and cause them a problem and had a belief we could win, while understanding it was always going to be a difficult game.
“First half we had our moments. We lacked a tiny bit in the final bit. Second half they proved dominant while not causing us too many problems. The back end was two teams seeing out the game."
When asked if he could be satisfied with a performance in which his side failed to register a single shot on target playing in front of their own fans, Parker added: “No, definitely not.
“We’re always ones to be ultra-critical and the critical element of us at this present moment in time is exactly that. Let’s not look past the fact we’ve played against a very good side but 100 per cent there’s a side to us that we need to improve and that is clear.”
