Leeds United 'take Tottenham star on trial' as transfer chance is clarified
Leeds United have reportedly taken Tottenham youngster Roman Egan-Riley on trial.
The 18-year-old centre-back joined Spurs from Manchester City’s academy in 2023. He signed his first professional contract a year ago.
But the Leeds insider reported via X at the weekend that Egan-Riley is now West Yorkshire bound, to link up with the Whites on a trial basis. The Manchester-born teenager has made six appearances for Spurs in the Under-18s Premier League this season after 10 outings last term.

The length of the trial has not been confirmed but will give Whites coaches the chance to run the rule over the tall defender up close at Thorp Arch. Egan-Riley's older brother CJ plays for Leeds' Championship promotion rivals Burnley.
Elsewhere, Jeremias Conan Ledesma will not be heading to Elland Road. LeedsLive understands the River Plate goalkeeper is not a target as things stand, with the Argentinian side’s manager Marcelo Gallardo determined to keep him.
Journalist Juan Cortese told his YouTube channel (via Sport Witness ) “For now, Jeremías Ledesma has no chance of leaving and, ultimately, Gallardo has no intention of getting rid of him. Today he has his role due to the great level of (first-choice goalkeeper) Franco Armani.
“It is clear that Gallardo does not want him to leave. He is a quality goalkeeper and will probably have more minutes than one can imagine this season, taking into account the large number of games.
“It is clear that Armani will be River’s goalkeeper for as long as he wants, but, at any time, Ledesma can begin to be River’s goalkeeper in some games when he is needed: in the Argentine Cup or in one of those decisive games for the calendar requirement.”
