An important month that may not see any transfer incomings could see Leeds United strengthen their promotion hand heading into February with a statement victory this evening. A win at Turf Moor against third-placed Burnley will send the Whites our points clear of Sheffield United in second place and six points ahead of Scott Parker's Clarets in the race for promotion.

In a transfer month underpinned by Daniel Farke's relentless message that Leeds have a strong squad and don't need to threaten what they have with new recruits, Leeds can hammer that home to some extent with a win this evening. The key is, will that same truth hold come the conclusion of February with a similarly tough conclusion to next month when Leeds travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United.

In between Burnley and the Blades is a handful of days of the transfer window, four Championship games and an FA Cup tie. It's shaping up to be yet another key month and with each changing of the page on the calendar, so the importance seems to crank up even further.

February is welcomed in with a home game against Cardiff City, starting a run of four games in 11 days that will certainly have a say in shaping the post-transfer window mood. With trips to Coventry City and Watford following, and an FA Cup home tie with Millwall sandwiched in between, Daniel Farke will know his team have an opportunity to make hey before tougher tests to come.

Monday night games at home to Sunderland and then away at Sheffield United end the month, and with West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road on March 1st, Leeds will know their toughest run of Championship games will be behind them. If Leeds are still top of the pile as the Baggies make the journey out of Elland Road, the Whites will be in a commanding position in the promotion race.

There's plenty of football between now and then with no doubt the toughest period of the whole season now laying ahead. Whether the transfer window springs any surprises for Leeds is doubtful, and if that is the case, supporters will be hoping the club's confidence in their ability to navigate the run-in with what they have proves justified, evidence of which will be pretty clear starting tonight with a potentially season-defining run of games.
