Leeds United transfer put in jeopardy following Wayne Rooney sacking
Leeds United youngster Joe Gelhardt may have his hopeful transfer move to Plymouth Argyle thrown out the window.
Gelhardt's career so far has largely been substitute appearances. Even with limited time on the pitch, the Englishman did manage to score in a Premier League game for Leeds. All he needed now was more experience, but the transfer that could have got him that looks like it could fall through.
The 22-year-old was keen on a move to Plymouth. These feelings were reciprocated at Home Park with the Pilgrims hoping to get a deal sorted. Gelhardt himself was eager to play and develop under manager Wayne Rooney.

Now, according to Journalist Alan Nixon, this move may be tarnished after the news that Rooney has left Plymouth. The largely forgotten Leeds forward's hopes of getting some vital minutes on the field are fading with this deal in the balance.
Leeds had given Gelhardt clearance to find a loan move. He had been on loan in the past where he want to Sunderland during the 2022/23 season. He managed to pick up 20 appearances, but only managed three goals with the Black Cats.
If he stays at Elland Road, the storyline isn't likely to change for the 22-year-old. He will probably remain on the bench unless there is some sort of injury crisis at Leeds. Daniel Farke would much prefer he gained experience elsewhere and brought that back to the club.
Also, with Gelhardt's career at Leeds lacking progression and still a good amount of time on his contract, various loan spells would benefit his eventual transfer fee if Leeds were to sell him. But for right now, he is a Leeds player.
