Leeds United transfer 'target' set for January exit as Bundesliga club eye potential deal
Leeds United transfer 'target' Mergim Berisha is expected to leave Hoffenheim in the January transfer window. That is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who says discussions with interested clubs are "ongoing".
Plettenberg states Berisha has "no future" at Hoffenheim. He adds that Bundesliga club Werder Bremen "remain an option" to sign him and have inquired about Berisha's availability.
The 26-year-old only joined Hoffenheim 18 months ago for a fee around £11.6million on the back of an eye-catching 2022/23 loan spell when he scored nine goals in 23 Bundesliga appearances for FC Augsburg. But Berisha has failed to impress since joining Hoffenheim, scoring just one goal in 18 league outings.

Berisha, who previously worked with former United boss Jesse Marsch at Red Bull Salzburg, has won two Germany caps during his well-travelled career. He also enjoyed a spell in Turkey with Fenerbache.
United expect a quiet month on the transfer front, with Daniel Farke making it clear that he is not a big fan of the January window. But it is not beyond the realms of possibility the Whites could look to bring in reinforcements in attack. Patrick Bamford is currently sidelined by a hamstring problem and has struggled to make an impact this season while Joe Gelhardt is in talks over a potential loan move to Hull City.
“We have to keep going developing individually and the whole squad," stressed Farke. "We've done pretty well, we're top of the league after a busy period, unbeaten for a while and on a really good path. But we don't win 20 in a row and cruise easily. If we do something in January I can guarantee already right now we will still have a relatively young squad, it will be a tight race to the end and we won't be perfect in each and every situation."
