Leeds United urged to follow Southampton transfer blueprint to secure Premier League return
Time is of the essence if Daniel Farke is to sprinkle stardust on his Leeds United squad in the transfer window. Deadline day is approaching but there have been no incomings at Elland Road.
The dream scenario for Farke would be to add another centre-back, No 10 and striker to their ranks. The Whites missed out on signing an attacking midfielder in the summer transfer window, having targeted a number of players including James McAtee and Emi Buendia.
Farke's troops made it 11 unbeaten in the Championship after a well-earned point against promotion rivals Burnley on Monday evening. The draw kept them clear at the top of the Championship, with a three point gap on the third-placed Clarets.

Ex-United defender Jon Newsome has called on his former club to make two signings before the window shuts on February 3 at 11pm. “Ideally, I think you’d like to bring a 10 in and a no.9," he said. "I just think we’re light in that department. If Joel Piroe gets injured, at the moment Patrick Bamford is out, you’re then relying on Mateo Joseph. That’s it.
“Look at the teams in and around promotion over the last four or five seasons, look at Southampton who beat Leeds to it, they had four or five strikers. That’s an area they need to look at, definitely a 9 and a 10.”
The Whites will be bidding to return to winning ways on Saturday when they host Cardiff City.
