Leeds United's Championship rivals drop out of deadline day race to sign Adam Armstrong
Leeds United’s quest to strengthen Daniel Farke's promotion push continues with the clock ticking down on deadline day.
The Whites have now been linked with a move for Southampton striker Adam Armstrong, who could leave St. Mary’s before the deadline this evening. He's the second Saints' forward linked with a move to Elland Road this month, with fellow striker Cameron Archer also linked with the Whites this month.
It remains to be seen which striker, if any, will head to Yorkshire this month, with Championship rivals Middlesbrough also linked with Armstrong in the last few hours.

According to the Daily Mail, the Whites and their Championship rivals Boro were 'interested' in the 27-year-old striker, whose goal helped win Southampton promotion under the Wembley arch last season. In 20 top flight appearances, the Newcastle-born striker has two goals and two assists in a struggling side, with Leeds in need of additions up front.
The Northern Echo claims Boro have been priced out of a move for Armstrong, with Southampton looking for a loan fee and his wages to be covered by the Teessiders. Michael Carrick's side are said to be unwilling to meet those demands, with Kelechi Iheanacho moving to the Riverside ahead of tonight's deadline.
His impending arrival will take Boro up to five loanees, the maximum allowed in a Championship matchday squad, leaving the door open for Leeds United to take advantage.
The Whites know all about the former Newcastle United trainee, who scored the decisive goal for the Saints in their Championship play-off final clash with Leeds at Wembley in the summer. Armstrong signed a three year contract extension on the back of that result, but it looks as though he could now seal a move away from St. Mary's before the transfer window closes.
