'I left the Premier League for La Liga - Trent Alexander-Arnold should learn from my mistake'
The future of Trent Alexander-Arnold has been a hot topic so far this season. The 26-year-old, alongside Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, is yet to agree a new deal at the club when his current contract expires in June 2025.
The trio will be able to negotiate deals with other clubs in the January transfer window, which is a less than ideal situation. Alexander-Arnold in particular has been heavily linked with Real Madrid and it seems highly likely that will be the England international's next move should he decide to leave Anfield.
However one former Premier League star has urged the right-back to learn from his mistakes.

In an exclusive interview with Gambling Zone, former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit was asked if Alexander-Arnold's potential Real Madrid would help solve Los Blancos issues with Kylian Mbappe, who has not been on form since moving from PSG.
"Real Madrid are missing [Toni] Kroos and [Luka] Modric and at least Trent would be able to give them those clinical passes that break the lines" says Petit. "It’s exactly what he can do and his vision, technical skills, would be a really good addition for that team.
"Ancelotti is missing the balance of the team. They are overloaded on the left-hand side and Trent on the right could help that. "
However Petit, who moved from Arsenal to Barcelona in 2001, has urged Alexander-Arnold to think about his future and whether he wants to move from the Premier League to La Liga.
"But does Trent want to leave Liverpool" says the 54-year-old. "I think Liverpool could be the place to be and he could be the next captain of the club. "They could win the Premier League and Champions League this season and sometimes the grass isn’t always greener, I saw that when I moved from Arsenal to Barcelona."
Liverpool.com says: Trent has had an exceptional start to the season so far and he seems very much a part of Arne Slot's future plans. However the fact the club haven't managed to negotiate a new deal for not just him but Salah and Van Dijk too is concerning. Let's hope this situation is resolved sooner rather than later.
