Leicester City could be faced with unforeseen striker transfer decision
Leicester City could be faced with a January transfer window decision in the coming weeks after it emerged that Championship clubs elsewhere are interested in having forward Tom Cannon for the second half of this season. Irish international Cannon is currently on loan at Stoke City and has scored ten goals in all competitions so far this term
Young forward Cannon, who the club signed from Everton following their drop into the Championship in the summer of 2023 after a fruitful loan spell in the second tier with Preston North End, started only three league games for Enzo Maresca last season but scored two goals across his 13 Championship appearances. Ultimately, Cannon found the competition of Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka stiff.
This year, he has been Stoke's undisputed focal point; beginning with his four-goal haul in the demolition of Portsmouth to deliver an early win in the reign of former boss Narcis Pelach, Cannon has since followed those goals up with important strikes in wins over Derby County and Blackburn Rovers, as well as recently against Sunderland, and in the draw at Queens Park Rangers.

His nine Championship goals have him towards the top of the top scorer list, level with the likes of Burnley's Josh Brownhill and Portsmouth's Callum Lang, but Cannon's impressive return has attracted the eyes of clubs elsewhere in the Championship. The Irish international is supposedly wanted by both Luton Town and Sheffield Wednesday.
Stoke's agreement with City is pencilled in for the entire season, but clubs can put offers to the Foxes in the January window, from then which the decision lies solely with the parent club - although it remains to be seen if Leicester would even entertain the idea of making Cannon uproot and switch clubs after a fruitful first half of the campaign.
The Sun reports that although Luton and Sheffield Wednesday - the latter who are below Stoke in the table and the former who are chasing the play-offs - are keen, it'd take a monumental offer for Leicester to consider redistribute Cannon.
