Leicester City hold talks over deal as £5m defender transfer is pursued
Leicester City defender Luke Thomas would appear to be a wanted man this January transfer window - but the Foxes aren't intending to allow the left-back to leave on the cheap. Thomas is wanted by Hoffenheim, according to Fabrizio Romano, who have offered sums which, so far, City have rejected.
Thomas is a Leicester boy and an academy product, having joined the club in 2008, but he fell down the pecking order and last season he spent time with Championship rivals Middlesbrough having remained in the Premier League with Sheffield United in the first half of the campaign.
The 23-year-old has played just five matches this season, though, and has made only two Premier League appearances to date as he moves into the final 18 months of his contract at the King Power Stadium. Thomas, though, it would appear has admirers from abroad who are keen on offering him a crack at playing football on the continent.

Hoffenheim have supposedly offered up to €5m to secure the signing of Thomas, but City are holding out for more as they consider the academy product's future in a transfer climate where making 'pure' profit is useful when planning to conduct incoming business.
Thomas has made 90 appearances for the Foxes, making his debut in Project Restart in the summer of 2020 and most recently appearing in the away defeats at Brentford and Aston Villa. His only Leicester goals came in the same year, in the 3-3 draw away at Braga and in the victory at Manchester United.
