Leicester City and Ipswich Town transfer verdicts on links to Coventry City's Haji Wright
Coventry City fans can rest easy regarding speculation about at least one of two clubs linked with interest in signing Haji Wright in the January window.
The Sky Blues' leading scorer is, according to TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey, on the radar of Ipswich Town and Leicester City who, he claims, are “eyeing a move” for the USA international.
The football journalist further claims that: “Wright is now ready to make a move to the top-flight, a striker who is just returning to training after a 10-game ankle ligament injury. Both Leicester and Ipswich have shown an interest in Wright, who Coventry would be open to selling given they are likely to double their original investment.”

City’s record signing joined the club for £7.7million in the summer of 2023, going on to score 19 goals in his first season with the Sky Blues. So far this season he has bagged seven goals in 15 Championship games, but has not played since early November when he suffered ankle ligament damage at Sunderland.
However, contrary to the report, we’re safe to rule out Ipswich from the equation, with Tractor Boys' correspondent Alex Jones of the East Anglian Daily Times checking out the speculation and reporting on X: “Seen Coventry City attacker Haji Wright linked with a move to Portman Road recently, but understand that he’s not a player of interest. Won’t be joining #itfc this month.”
As for City’s noisy neighbours up the M69, Jordan Blackwell, who covers the Foxes for our sister title LeicestershireLive, understands that a forward isn’t top of the priority list for Ruud van Nistelrooy this month, with a centre-back, full-back and winger wanted in the current window.
