Leicester City defender Caleb Okoli has reportedly been offered to Serie A side Bologna. Website Il Resto del Carlino claims the Champions League club are looking to replace Martin Erlic, who could be about to depart given his lack of game time since joining the club from Sassuolo last summer.

Cagliari are also said to be interested in Okoli, with TuttoCagliari.net claiming to quote the player's agent, Alessandro Barison, who, via Sport Witness, confirmed the contacts. "Yes, for the moment there has been a negotiation. Let's see what happens between now and the end of the market," he is reported as saying.

Okoli chose to come to England after the Foxes returned to the Premier League, signing a five-year contract under previous manager Steve Cooper. He had the opportunity to stay in Italy after coming through the ranks at Atalanta.

However, since Ruud van Nistelrooy has come in, Okoli has been on the bench in five of the last eight Premier League matches and played just eight minutes in 2025.

The centre-back has not started a single game under the new manager, failing to even make the bench against Crystal Palace last week. He could be a contender to go if a new defender arrives, although van Nistelrooy is not admitting as much.

Asked about the Italian’s future, the manager said: “He’s part of the squad. He will be involved in training and in the planning for the coming games. There’s no problem on Caleb.”

Meanwhile, City are looking to make space in their squad to help van Nistelrooy make additions, with right back Woyo Coulibaly the only addition so far.
