Leicester City have named their strongest available line-up to face QPR in the FA Cup as they look to end their losing streak.

City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy had hinted he may rest some players with one eye on a crucial fixture against Crystal Palace on Wednesday. But instead he’s named what appears to be his best available 11.

That means three changes from the defeat to Aston Villa. Jannik Vestergaard limped off at Villa Park and is not in the squad against QPR, with Wout Faes handed his first start under van Nistelrooy. At left-back, Victor Kristiansen has recovered from illness to replace Luke Thomas. Then on the right wing, Facundo Buonanotte comes back into the team and Jordan Ayew drops to the bench.

James Justin, Conor Coady, Harry Winks, Boubakary Soumare, Bilal El Khannouss, Stephy Mavididi and Jamie Vardy, on his 38th birthday, all start again. It gives City the best chance possible of ending their five-match losing run.

On the bench, Kasey McAteer returns to the squad for the first time since the loss at Newcastle after recovering from injury. But there’s no place for Will Alves, Henry Cartwright or Tom Wilson-Brown, youngsters who have been with the squad in recent weeks.

City (4-2-3-1): Stolarczyk; Justin, Coady, Faes, Kristiansen; Winks, Soumare; Buonanotte, El Khannouss, Mavididi; Vardy. Subs: Iversen, Thomas, Okoli, Choudhury, Skipp, McAteer, De Cordova-Reid, Ayew, Daka.
