Rumours of Conor Coady's return to Wolves were rife in January in a swap deal with Craig Dawson, but now the defender has been linked with Leeds United.

With the former England international now looking out of favour under Ruud van Nistelrooy there is widespread speculation he may make a move for more minutes . Coady started for the Dutchman for all of his first eight matches in charge, his longest run in the City line-up, even captaining the side at Liverpool on Boxing Day.

However, since the defeat to Crystal Palace at home in January, he hasn't been a staple of the squad, with Wout Faes and Jannik Vestergaard looking to be the preferred choice at the back.

With promotion back to the top flight looking more and more likely for Leeds United, Daniel Farke is reportedly interested in bringing in the experienced centre-back.

The West Yorkshire side is lacking in depth in the position, with Max Wober plagued with injuries and midfielder Ethan Ampadu often called to play out of position at the back, Coady would offer Premier League experience to steady the back line at Elland Road

Coady also has experience in making a home in Yorkshire, making a name for himself at Huddersfield but also having a stint at Sheffield United.

However, despite not getting many minutes at the King Power, van Nistelrooy still looks keen to keep Coady in the ranks. Asked if he had any doubts over Coady’s commitment, van Nistelrooy said: “Zero. I didn’t hear anything from his side when he asked to leave. That is totally not true. If that is what is being said, it’s not true.

“He is a big part of this squad. He’s one of our leaders. He’s such a character that when he doesn’t play, he’s still that leader, he’s still helping the team, coaching the team, talking to players, pushing everybody to their highest levels in training sessions. For me, it was unthinkable for him to go. But from his side, there were no signs he wanted to leave.”
