Leicester City and Wolves 'hold talks' over centre-back transfer swap deal
Leicester City and Wolves are reportedly discussing a swap deal for centre-backs Craig Dawson and Conor Coady in a surprise deadline-day switch.
The Telegraph are reporting that City could do the trade with their relegation rivals, one that would see them bring in Dawson and send Coady back to the club where he made his name. A new centre-back has been on the agenda for City this month amid their poor defensive record, but the proposed swap deal has come out of the blue.
Coady was in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s starting line-up when the Dutchman first took charge, but he has since been dropped for Wout Faes. Under Steve Cooper, Coady had been out of favour and had looked like leaving in January, but his initial resurgence under van Nistelrooy looked like keeping him at the King Power Stadium.

Dawson, meanwhile, had been a regular for Wolves this season until he was replaced recently by new signing Emmanuel Agbadou. City’s relegation rivals are also in talks to sign another centre-back in Red Star Belgrade’s Nasser Djiga.
At 34, Dawson is three years Coady’s senior. While he would come with experience, and a reputation for being a very good defender, he wouldn’t add pace to the back-line that City have been missing. In his 10 Premier League starts this season, Wolves conceded 23 goals and kept just one clean sheet, against Southampton.
